Red Hot Reads

It’s finally summer and the world is already suffering from heat waves so hot you could fry several dozen eggs on the sidewalk. What better to do than TURN UP THE HEAT with some awesome summer reads?

This book is actually fire: Burn for Burn by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian

burn for burn

Burn for Burn challenges the saying that revenge is best served cold. Three girls, Kat, Lillia, and Mary, put together the ultimate plan to make sure their enemies get what’s coming to them. It’s a hot, hot read with plenty of schemes and no regrets.

Grab your spot on the beach with: Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

rebel of the sands

Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton is a book for the summer! Taking place in the scorching desert, follow the rebellion across the continent (with plenty of sunscreen). Alwyn’s debut is absolutely MARVELOUS and her writing is more enchanting and mysterious than a mirage. This is a book that’s real, and lives up to the summer heat.

Road Trip Read: Blood Red Road by Moira Young

blood red road

Blood Red Road is THE book for road trips. It’s the story of Saba as she traverses a scorching desert, a western-murder-town,  and starts a revolution all to rescue her twin, Lugh. It’s written in a unique format–little punctuation, in-dialect–but don’t let that stop you, because Blood Red Road is the perfect travel book.

Feeling the Heat: The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

The Star-Touched Queen is one of the hottest books I’ve read this summer. Maya, a princess with plans of her own, suddenly has to devise a new plan as war and a mysterious stranger enter her father’s kingdom. The romance is HOT, the plot is UNTOUCHABLE, and the characters shine so brilliantly you’ll need sunglasses.

And to cool off, check out The Coldest Girl in Cold Town by Holly Black. Not-your-typical-vamps, awesome shoes, and a gritty vamp world? Yes please! Not to mention the “cold hands, warm heart” theme 🙂
